Jacob Eapen wins Ellis medal of honour

Dr Jacob Eapen, a California-based NRI doctor, who has bagged this year’s Ellis Island Medal of Honor, established by the

National Ethnic Coalition of Organisations (NECO) in the US. He was awarded the Medal on May 12.

The Ellis Island Medals of Honor are presented annually to US citizens of diverse origins for their outstanding contributions to their own ethnic groups, their ancestral countries and to the US.

Born in Trivandrum, Eapen did his schooling and finished college from the city. After doing his pre-med from Mar Ivanios College, he moved to Trivandrum Medical College for his graduation. He finished his post-graduate training in pediatrics from CMC Ludhiana and then proceeded to work in Africa.
